Individual Action

The focus of most RISE research has been on identifying structural and institutional obstacles for underrepresented minority students in engineering education. However, we have made rare recommendations about how students can exercise individual agency in engineering education e.g. personal drive, motivation, and behaviors supporting success. Click on the links below to see the full contents of the recommendations and publications that support these recommendations.

Recognize that families have a strong influence on academic success for many students, including members of minority groups.

Recommendations from students to students also contains recommendations from a paper written specifically for the student audience in this category.
